The term "Sertão" has an unknown origin, with its presence in the Portuguese language documented since the 15th century. Colonizers introduced the word, using it to describe the vast, inland territory not visible from the coast. Over time, various meanings have been ascribed to this term, yet its definition has never been fixed. This exhibition delves into the diverse interpretations of "Sertão" within Brazilian art.
