Lysistrata - The Sex Strike - Aristotle

Exasperated by the prolonged war between Athens and Sparta, the women unite, seize control of the Athenian Acropolis, and initiate a sex strike. This abstinence causes frustration and despair among the men, compelling them to abandon their weapons and seek peace. Written during a period of significant political and social turmoil in Athens, the play uses satire, irony, and sharp humor to critique male aggression and the ineffectiveness of political leaders. It highlights the strength, unity, and female leadership in resolving a problem created by men.
